What Makes Our Fish Oil So Special?

At Rosita Real Foods we are dedicated to providing quality handcrafted products that have been produced in harmony with nature. Our oils are a sustainable and natural source of pure fatty nutrients that boost your health and consciousness.

Rosita Extra-Virgin Cod Liver Oil (EVCLO) is the finest cod liver oil you can buy. It is made exclusively from wild cod sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Norway.

An exclusive cold-process artisan method extracts the oil and preserves the delicate nutrients that are naturally present in wild cod livers. The resultant oil is as pure and authentic as it was for our Nordic ancestors hundreds of years ago.

Rosita Real Foods provides pure, natural and premium Extra-Virgin oils. We do not use any heat, pressure or metal containers or treatment in the Rosita Method, and this is very important. These oils are very delicate and must not be heated, extracted through pressure or exposed to air or metal in the process. The fish and extraction process receive special treatment, with each liver inspected and only the best chosen and placed in a dark, oxygen-free environment. The oil is naturally released when the cod livers are exposed to temperatures slightly higher than the ocean. Great care is taken to monitor this process to ensure the oils retain their freshness and purity.

Product Highlights

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT DOES EVCLO LIQUID TASTE LIKE? Our Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil is a pure natural healthy product which most people find to be mild in taste. Nature determines how fishy it tastes and some batches are stronger than others. Other "standardised oils" go through very industrial manufacturing processes which not only strip out the flavour but also key benefits of taking the oil in the first place. You may choose to wash it down with chilled water or natural juice to get rid of the fishy taste, alternatively you can have it just before a meal. The Rosita method includes a natural filtration process that takes out more of the fishy tasting proteins but retains the array of beneficial fats and the all important natural vitamins. Please remember to give the bottle a gentle shake before use to distribute the different fats that may settle into layers within the bottle - including the rosemary oil which may be unpleasant otherwise.
HOW DO I CHOOSE BETWEEN THE EVCLO LIQUIDS AND EVCLO SOFTGELS? Rosita Real Foods EVCLO a pure and natural healthy fish oil which provides a great range of beneficial fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. Nature determines how fishy the liquid tastes and we do understand that some people don’t like taking the liquid form. Our EVCLO softgel capsules are well suited to people who need to take their oils on-the-go or want to avoid the fishy taste of the liquid. EVCLO softgels do not require refrigeration and are small in size and coated in 100% fish gelatin softgel capsule, so can be easily swallowed like a pill. They work well for children, or those who don’t have access to refrigeration at the time that they take the oil. We also have customers who like to use the softgels when travelling. The softgels are more expensive per serving however, due to the high cost of production on this item, which is why many of our customers select the liquid oil for everyday use.
HOW IS THE OIL EXTRACTED FROM THE COD LIVER? Rosita Real Foods oils are pure natural premium Extra-Virgin oils. The oil is naturally released when the cod livers are exposed to temperatures slightly higher than the ocean, and great care is taken to monitor this process to ensure the oils retain their freshness and purity. Fish liver residuals are separated from the raw oil by use of a decanter and contaminants are removed without the use of heat or chemicals using a patented method and naturally occuring material. The oil is then placed in cold storage in the absence of oxygen and light, which keeps the oil fresh while it is tested for purity before being bottled.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EVCLO? Rosita Real Foods Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil contains a complete range of raw omega fats including omega 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 11 fats. It is particularly rich in the long-chain omega-3s (EPA and DHA) which are also known as essential fats because the body cannot make them from scratch. Our cod liver oil also contains a great natural source of Vitamin A and Vitamin D. It is free from synthetic nutrients and contains all of the potent, naturally occurring biologically active nutrients which make it effective, and in the exact form present in a living codfish liver. For example, vitamin A is predominately in the retinol form and vitamin D is predominately in the cholecalciferol (D3) form. Choosing the natural form over a synthetic version means the nutrients are highly bioavailable and easy to absorb, digest and assimilate in your body.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS OF EVCLO?

IS ROSITA COD LIVER OIL FROM A SUSTAINABLE SOURCE? Our ethos is to work with nature to supply the highest quality health-giving oils available. Rosita products are sustainably sourced from wild fish stocks in the pristine waters of Norway. EVCLO is a "living oil" derived from wild and abundant Norwegian codfish. It is produced in small batches from Wild Cod (Gadus morhua) sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Norway.
IS ROSITA EVCLO SAFE TO USE? Rosita Real Foods Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil contains the naturally occurring Omega fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins that would be found in a living fish. The concentration of fat-soluble nutrients depends on several biological factors, including the size of the fish and the amount of oil contained in the liver. There are also seasonal variations related to the spawning cycle of the fish, climatic conditions, plankton, and other conditions affecting the codfish. Because Rosita EVCLO is a completely unrefined & unprocessed wholefood, the concentration of nutrients will ALWAYS vary from batch to batch.

The Nutrient Results (fat-soluble vitamins, sterols & fatty acids) shown below represent typical values and ranges which have been obtained from analytical testing at the following institutes:

  • NIFES (National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research )[20/12/2010]
  • ALS Food & Pharmaceutical (United Kingdom) [10/10/2012]
  • Eurofins Food Testing [19/02/2013]
  • Nutrition Analytical Service (NAS), Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling, Scotland, United Kingdom [15/11/2013]. The head of NAS, Professor Gordon Bell, has over 30 years of experience in fish nutrition and lipid and nutrition related analysis and has published more than 184 peer-reviewed papers on fish nutrition, fatty acids, lipid soluble nutrients and antioxidants. The Chief Analyst, James Dick, provides over 25 years of experience in lipid methodology and is responsible for Quality Control within the Nutrition Group, the development of chromatographic techniques and is trained in all aspects of complex lipid analysis including HPLC, GC, GC/MS and GC/MS/MS.
  • Extra virgin oil was also tested [as far back as: 15.07.2011] by the producer at ECO-Marine using a Norwegian Aquaculture Research Institute which specialises in marine raw materials and products.

*Gadoleic acid [which was first noted in cod liver oil] and Cetoleic acid are present in higher amounts in codfish from Northern hemisphere and high latitude waters. These fatty acids are therefore found in higher quantities in genuine cod liver oil originating from the Northern hemisphere.
*Cetoleic acid is also usually present in lower proportions than Gadoleic acid.

This ratio is a good indicator of genuine Northern hemisphere cod liver oil.

Cod Liver Oil has been tested for purity by leading European institutes and meets all the stringent European requirements.
